Work to demolish the north side of Talisman shopping centre in Kenilworth is now underway.
The demolition work is the latest stage of the major redevelopment of Talisman and is set to be followed by new larger units being built on the site next year.
Hugo Hawkings, chief executive of the site developers Discovery Properties, said the work will be suspended over the Easter period and is expected to be completed in early May.
He said: “The vacant units on the north side of the site had become an eyesore and were serving no useful purpose so we have taken the decision to knock them down to make way for modern units which will be much more appealing to retailers and shoppers coming into the town centre.
"This will be a major redevelopment and it will be about a year before we are in a position to start building work."
"We had hoped to be able to put a temporary car-park in place during the short-term instead of hoarding this area but sadly we were unable to gain planning permission."
"Bringing the north side up to the standard of the rest of Talisman remains one of our top priorities and in the meantime we will be doing our utmost to ensure the demolition work has as little impact on our tenants and visitors to the centre as possible."
