Festive celebrations in Kenilworth will soon be in full swing as the town prepares for its annual Christmas market, with a whole day designed to keep the kids entertained.
A Christmas family fun day will take over Talisman Shopping Centre on Saturday, December 1, with a host of free activities running from 10am until 4pm, including fairground rides and a visit from Father Christmas.
Kids will get the chance to meet Santa, who is bringing over 600 presents with him to be given away on the day, before heading to a helter-skelter ride and a Christmas carousel – both of which are free to use.
A giant snowglobe, new for 2019, will also be set up in the square, giving visitors the perfect opportunity for a festive family photo to be taken.
Free parking is being provided by Warwick District Council, with Small Business Saturday taking place on the same day, before the Warwick Road lights switch returns on Sunday.
Kenilworth Town Councillor Richard Hales, who helped organised the weekend’s events, said: “This is a great way for families in Kenilworth to spend the day together, sort their Christmas shopping, and for the kids to have some festive fun.”
“It’s going to be a busy weekend of Christmas activities with our two lights switch ons, and the Christmas market at Talisman Shopping Centre, so I’m urging everyone to get down there and make the most of everything the town has to offer.
“I’d like to thank Talisman once again for helping us put on this year’s Christmas market, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone here at the weekend.”
Hugo Hawkings, chief executive of Talisman developers Discovery Properties, said: “There will be plenty going on all weekend in the shopping centre, but we wanted to make Saturday one for the whole family and really help people get into the Christmas spirit.”
“There will be no shortage of fun for kids throughout the day with the mini fairground and Santa dropping by to give away presents.
“I’m sure the snowglobe will be a big hit with the locals. It will make for a memorable family photo for the year.
“Saturday is also a great opportunity to find some fantastic Christmas deals in our stores”
